Set three years after The
Return Of The Jedi, this book one of four X-Wing novels is fast paced,
introduces us to some great new characters, and once again proves that the Force
will always be with us.
The thrust of the
action revolves around a newly reformed Rogue Squadron, with Commander Wedge
Antilles in charge. He brings together the best and the brightest young hotshot
pilots to train and mold in a way only he can. Several of these trainees soon
stand out, among them Corran Horn and Bror Jace. But the time for training is
cut short, and Wedge is forced to lead his squad into battle.
The Empire has been in
shock since the death of the Emperor, but it did not wither up and die. A new
source of evil named Ysanne Isard has taken up the reins, and sent in her best
intelligence agent to personally wipe out the Rogue Squadron.
There's some cool plot
twists here, great battle scenes, plus a refreshing look at what is happening on
the fringes of the war against the Empire. I highly recommend this book to all,
and I can't wait for the next installment.
